Since I last updated you all, Blake has been sick and not herself for over three weeks now. Over the past three weeks, we have been into every doctor’s office multiple times. Sinus infection, complaining of her throat always hurting, hands in her mouth every time I look over at her, Fevers, and she has generally only wanted smoothies. Because she hasn’t eaten like usual she has lost about four pounds. She hasn’t been herself since the sleeping issues started in June, but this has brought it to a new level.
She is usually great at going into the kid’s area when I workout, and she loves it! But over the past two weeks, I haven’t been able to pull her off of me. I look at her, and she looks so tired and drained. Even her teachers tell me the same thing. Everyone can tell something is up!!! Usually, she enjoys spending time with other family members, but over these two weeks, she’s had a rough time. I feel helpless because I have tried absolutely everything I can to help her.
They kept testing her for flu and strep, and every time she tested negative. When we saw her PCP Last week, she was concerned because when she asked Blake what was bothering her, she pointed half way down on her neck. Her PCP ordered A STAT X-ray to check her throat to see if something had gotten caught and told me to call her Ear Nose and Throat Doctor to make an appointment. We got the results that night, and her X-ray came back normal. We arrived to see the Ear Nose and Throat Doctor Thursday the 12th. The ENT decided to move her tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy to this upcoming Thursday. She told me that with her state, pain, and weight loss, she wasn’t comfortable waiting until January 29th. She also informed me that she would be adding another procedure to look further into her throat and see what else is going on while she’s under. She said that if there’s anything remotely abnormal, even the smallest piece of tissue, that she will do a biopsy. I am very thankful that they are taking this seriously and have a sense of urgency. FINALLY. We’ve been dealing with these issues for six and a half months and have seen five doctors. Unfortunately, she will be recovering during Christmas, but we’re on the road to recovery!!
