After Blake’s surgery, I thought we would be finished with doctors/specialists for a while. Unfortunately, hasn’t been the case. She has to follow up with the neurologist every couple months since she was the one who ordered the speech therapy. The neurologist will continue to follow up with her until she sees improvement. Then we were referred to a dermatologist since Blake has these bumps that have spread over the course of a year. Two weeks ago, she was also referred to an allergist due to her dark circles and constant congestion. That appointment is in two weeks. This past week she caught flu type B. At 1 a.m., her fever rose to 105.4, so I took her to Dell. I had planned on just taking her to 24-hour urgent care, but they wouldn’t take her since her fever was so high. After getting to the hospital, she threw up, and there was blood. I was informed that all of this was normal with this type of Flu. They ran an EKG since she has a heart murmur (She’s had it since birth but never had an EKG. For some reason, they decided to run one.) The ER doctor came in to go over everything but never brought up the EKG. I assumed that meant everything was okay and forgot about it.
Three days ago, I received a call from a cardiologist saying that her EKG was severely abnormal for her age, and they were going to schedule her with their “emergent” patients next week. After her tonsil/Adenoid surgery, her sleeping did improve drastically, but in the last month or so, it’s been off again. She’s been severly fatigued and napping again for the first time since she was two. In her sleep study back in November, she wasn’t receiving enough oxygen. The cardiologist needs to make sure that her heart isn’t a contributing factor now that her tonsils and adenoids are out. Heart issues can be a source of sleep apnea.
The hope is they rule out anything that could be harmful, and she is healthy in Jesus’ name.
